PoetryEast with Sasha Dugdale
Sasha Dugdale is a poet and translator. She has published five collections with Carcanet. Deformations, her most recent collection, was shortlisted for the 2020 TS Eliot and Derek Walcott Prizes. Joy (2017) was a Poetry Book Society Choice and the title poem was awarded the Forward Prize for Best Single Poem of 2016.
Dugdale has published numerous translations of Russian women’s writing, most recently Maria Stepanova's novel In Memory of Memory (Fitzcarraldo, 2021), which was shortlisted for the International Booker Prize, the Weidenfeld Prize, Warwick Prize for Women in Translation and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize.
At this special PoetryEast event in partnership with Carcanet, we’ll be launching her new collection, The Strongbox. Sasha will be in conversation with Maitreyabandhu about her life and work, and she’ll be reading from the new collection.
